Tony F. Montanaro, 92, of Pennellville (Schroeppel),
passed away at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse, NY on
Wed. Dec. 6, 2017. Born in Syracuse to his late parents,
Anna ( DeGrultta) and Andrew Montanaro on Nov. 2, 1925. He served in the U. S. Army 1944 – 45. He was a member of VFW Post 5540, Phoenix Memorial Post.
Tony was employed at LeMoyne Manor, Liverpool for
over 40 years. A member of the Bartenders Union.
He was a member of St. Stephen’s Church, Phoenix, NY.
Predeceased by his brothers, Frank, Nichols, Joseph,
Cosmo, and Michael; his sisters, Rose Tuscano and
Carmella Tursi.
Surviving are his loving wife of 61 years, Lucy C. (Lynch)
Montanaro; his five daughters, Peggy (Staring) Montanaro,
Betty (Doug) Corey, Theresa (Richard) Demo, Lucy (Scot)
Grenga, and Mary (Gerald) Stone; two sisters-in-law,
Marjorie Montanaro and Shirley Montanaro; 14 grand
children; 14 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews;
and many friends.
Calling hours are on Sunday Dec. 10, 2017 from 2 to 5
p.m. in the Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home,
431 Main St., Phoenix, NY. Services are at
8:45 a.m. on Monday in the funeral home followed by
a 9:30 a.m. funeral mass in St. Stephen’s Church, 469
Main St., Phoenix, with the Rev. Philip Brockmyre
officiating. Burial with military honors to follow in
Assumption Cemetery, 2401 Court St., Syracuse, NY.
