Obituary for Selena D. "Marietta" Carpenter

Selena  D. “Marietta” Carpenter, 91, a resident of Phoenix, NY for 58 years, passed away peacefully at home, with her loving family by her side.  Born in Newton Grove, NC, to her late parents, Nancy S. (Rackley) and Freddie Faulton Daughtry in 1921.  During WW II, she worked as a mechanic and a manager of the PX at Seymour Johnson Air Field, AFB, Goldsboro, NC; Bristol Labs, and the YMCA, Syracuse; the Fire Call Center for the Village of Phoenix.  Marietta was a member of the Phoenix United Methodist Church, as well as the U. M. Women and Sunshine Club; the Silver Rebecca Lodge # 229, Mexico.


Predeceased by her husband, Richard J. Carpenter on March 22, 1982; three brothers, three sisters. Surviving are her four sons and one daughter, Herbert F. (Roseann) Carpenter of E. Williston, NY, Paul D. Carpenter of Syracuse, Nancy A. (Patrick) Finn of Reno, NV, William C. (Chailai) Carpenter of Fulton, Richard F. (Janet) Carpenter of Cicero; seven grandchildren, Jeff, Heather, Jeremy, Jesse, Evan, Roseann, Emily; eight great-grand children, Tyler, Willy, Trey, Bri, Rissy, Mia, Kiki, Deags; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Services are on Wednesday April 25, at 10 a.m. in the Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home, Phoenix, NY 13135, with the Rev. Joseph Kim officiating.  Burial in Phoenix Rural Cemetery.
