Obituary for Robert L. Pluff

Robert Leonard “Bob” Pluff, 94, of Phoenix, NY passed away at home, Saturday, May 13, 2023. Bob was born in Phoenix, NY on March 3, 1929, to his late parents Raymond H. Pluff and Florence A. (Zahn) Pluff. Bob was a hardworking family man of great integrity who would do anything for his family. He worked for General Electric for 36 years, retiring in 1989. Bob would often say, “I’ve almost been retired longer than I worked.” He was a member of the Phoenix High School class of 1947. He served in the Marines during the Korean War and graduated from the Naval Air Technical College with an Electrician degree, and was a long-time member of the Phoenix VFW Post #5540. Bob also served as President of the Phoenix School Board of Education during the 1970s. His sons were fortunate to get a handshake and a diploma on stage from their Dad at their graduations. Bob was a lifelong Yankee and Syracuse Orange fan and enjoyed playing golf. He was a founding member of Beaver Meadows Golf Club formed in 1965. He also loved talking about the Syracuse Nat’s and watched them win the 1955 NBA Championship, the year he was engaged to be married to the love of his life. Bob was a great husband, dad, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many and he will be sorely missed.
He was predeceased by his brothers Raymond (Catherine), Edward (Ophelia), Francis (Muriel) Pluff, and sister Mildred (Thomas) Radford. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Dolores (Soene) Pluff, and his three sons, Mike Pluff (Kathy Stratton), Jim Pluff (Shelly), and Gary (Christi) Pluff, his grandchildren, Carson, Carly, Casey and Calli and his great-grandchildren, Sophia, Jaxson and Reagan. They were the pride of his life.
