Obituary for Richard V. "Dick" Murdoch

Richard V. “Dick” Murdoch, 73, of Rabbit Lane, Phoenix, NY, passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center, Syracuse. He was born to his late parents, Rosalie (Elwell) & Verne P. Murdoch on Oct. 27, 1939 in Syracuse, NY. He attended Phoenix Schools, and then proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1957-1963 on the USS Chikaskia (AO-54). Dick was a welder for Armstrong Co., and the Nestle Co., both in Fulton. Dick loved fishing and hunting, as well as antique tractor pulling.


Surviving are his loving wife of 39 years, Maria (Gantley) Murdoch; his three children, Lenore Murdoch, Maureen Murdoch, and Matt Murdoch; his brother, Charles Murdoch; his sister, Jeanne Austic; nieces and nephews.


Calling hours will be on Sunday June 16, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Allanson- Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home, 431 Main St., Phoenix. A memorial mass will be the following day, Monday in St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, 469 Main St., Phoenix, at 9:30 a.m., with the Rev. Philip Brockmyre officiating.
