Raymond Richard Ackerman, 98, former Canastota resident, passed away on

Friday April 10, 2015, at the Manlius Home for Adults in the village of Manlius, NY.


He was born in Whitelaw, town of Lenox, NY, to his late parents, Dahlia (Wuillez) and Edward Ackerman, on March 21, 1917.


Raymond was a self employed carpenter, a man with many talents. He was

a member of the Whitelaw Presbyterian Church; Card Club; the Oneida Lake

Community Club; and he was an avid fisherman.


Predeceased by his loving wife, the former Valarie Hardy in 2003; his brothers

and sisters.


Surviving are his children, Raymond and Sonia Ackerman, James and Lilly

Ackerman, Richard and Cynthia Ackerman, Joan Effland, and Jerri and Marc

Hemboch; 16 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and great-great

grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.


Services will be held on Saturday April 18, 2015 at 11 a.m. in Whitelaw

Presbyterian Church.


Graveside services will be at the convenience of the family in Whitelaw

Cemetery.
