Obituary for Myra Louise Grabowski (Carr)

Myra L. (Carr) Grabowski died peacefully in Syracuse, New York on June 17, 2021 at the age of 78.
Myra was born in Volney, NY on November 13, 1942 to Catherine E. (Miner) Carr. She was raised by Myrtia and George Hunn of Phoenix, NY since the age of 6 months. She married Joseph J. Grabowski on May 3, 1958. Remaining in the Phoenix area most of her life, Myra raised her five children and worked at various jobs including Phoenix Central School District and Eagle Comptronics. Upon all her children graduating from high school she went on to earn her GED diploma in 1989. Later in life, Myra located to Kasoag Lake, NY and Lakeland, FL with her life partner, George Henry. During her life, Myra was active in organizations such as St. Stephens Catholic Church Choir (Phoenix), Trinity United Methodist Church Choir (Lakeland), card clubs, community associations and a parishioner at St. Stephens Catholic Church in Phoenix, NY.
She is survived by her children: Joseph (Alaine Farley) Grabowski of Tampa, FL, Raymond (Anne Ruta) Grabowski of Baldwinsville, NY, Donald Grabowski of Phoenix, NY, Linda (Frank) Perry of Ithaca, NY, and Rodney (Julie Freeman) Grabowski of Clarence Center, NY; grandchildren: Joseph, Lauren (Cass), Ariana, John Paul, Mary, Julianna, Katie, Marcus, Donald, Samantha (Ben) Kogut, Olivia, Hannah, and Jacob; sister-in-law, Karen Frost and several nieces and nephews.
Myra was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years Joseph Grabowski (2001), life partner George Henry (2015), stepbrother, Arthur Carr (2008) of Kansas City, KS, foster-brother Timothy Frost (1987) of Phoenix, NY and her mother, Catherine Carr (1988).
Myra was loved by many and admired for her commitment to her children and hard work ethic. She was an avid bird lover and enjoyed a good game of BINGO. In her earlier years, Myra loved to camp with family and friends and was known to make some of the best golumpkiā€™s for various family and friend gatherings.
The family wishes to thank everyone for their prayers and messages of support. A Catholic Mass will be held at 10 am on Monday, June 28, 2021 at St. Stephens Catholic Church, 469 Main St, Phoenix, NY 13135 followed by a brief graveside service at Phoenix Rural Cemetery, 126 Chestnut Street, Phoenix, NY 13135.
