Mildred Guernsey “Millie” Allen, 92 lifetime Phoenix, NY resident, passed away at Morning Star Care Center, Oswego, NY, on Sunday August 16, 2015.
Born in Hinmansville, on February 17, 1923 to her late parents, Sarah (Corey) and Arthur Guernsey. She was a graduate of Phoenix High School.
Millie was an artist for Syracuse China Corp. for 17 years. She hand painted various designs on thousands of china pieces. She attended the First Congregational, UCC, in the village of Phoenix. Her late husband of 60 years, Harry and she were one of the 200 charter members of the Beaver Meadows Golf & Recreation Assoc. on Barnard Rd., Phoenix. The golf club was established in 1965.
Predeceased by her husband, Harry Allen on March 30, 2002; one sister, Eva M. Pearson on May 25, 2009; two brothers, Ike and Gilbert Guernsey.
Surviving are two sisters, Norma Gwilt of Homosass, FL, and Evelyn Smith
of Sandridge; several nieces, and nephews; many grand and great-grand
nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 10 a.m. until Noon on Saturday August 29, 2015
in the Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home, 431 Main St., Phoenix.
Funeral services will begin at Noon in the funeral home, with Pastor Karen
Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in Phoenix Rural Cemetery, 126
Chestnut St., Phoenix, NY.
