Marie Ann Allen, 83, of Pennellville, passed away on Thursday. She was born on Dec. 7, 1937 to James and Vita (Calandra) Cangemi, in Syracuse, NY. Marie loved caring for many of Pennellville’s children and taught religious education for over 25 years. She was a long-time member of St. Stephen’s Church and their Altar Rosary Society, as well as The Red Hat Society. Marie was proudly responsible for taking and dispatching emergency calls for the Pennellville Fire Department before the existence of the national 911 system.

Marie was predeceased by her husband, James R. Allen in 1993.

She is survived by her children, James Allen, Terese (Jeff) Allen-Dean, Michael (Karen) Allen, Joseph (Cara) Allen, Christopher Allen and Mark (Steffinie) Allen; brothers, James (Carolyn) Cangemi and Joseph Cangemi; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, Oct. 11, 2021, 12 PM, at St. Stephen’s Church, 469 Main St., Phoenix, NY 13135. She will be laid to rest in the Pennellville Cemetery. Burial will be private.
