Obituary for Madalyn Morgan (Sponable)

Madalyn (Sponable) Morgan, 80, of Phoenix, NY passed away on Monday July 18, 2016

after a brief illness at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse, NY. She was born to her late parents,

Wilma (Olmstead) and Clark F. Sponable on December 16, 1935 in Baldwinsville, NY. Moving

to Phoenix in her junior year of high school, she then graduated from Phoenix High School

class of 1953.

Madalyn was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Ralph A. Morgan on December 28,

2010, her son Steven A. Morgan on November 23, 2011, her brother Willard C. “Spike”

Sponable on November 28, 1973, her sister Barbara A. Sponable on April 17, 2008.

Surviving are her two daughters and sons-in-law, Gwen and Terry Schmidtmann of Phoenix,

Margo and Steve Storie of Hammond, NY; her grandson Adam Schmidtmann of Phoenix,

her granddaughter and her husband, Lyndsay and Bryan Sutton of Ft. Myers, FL; her

brother Allyn Sponable of Fulton, and her foster brother Leon Heagle of Parish; several

nieces, nephews, cousins; and her music family.

Madalyn enjoyed singing classic country music. She was a life member of Enterprise Fire

Company # 1, Auxiliary, Phoenix; an avid supporter of Relay for Life; and owner/operator of

Morgan’s Tours, Phoenix.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Phoenix Fire Hall at 1 p.m. on Saturday July 23,

with a “greet the family” time from 11.a.m until 1 p.m before the ceremony.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Fire Dept. Aux, 457 Main St., Phoenix,

NY 13135, to purchase a memorial bench for the park.
