Lora A. Jones, 82, of Phoenix, NY, passed away on
Monday July 7, 2014 after a long illness. Born on
Nov. 3, 1931 to her late parents, Ruth Erma
(Ingraham) and Leeman Justice Cady in Preston,
NY. Lora was a graduate of Oxford Academy &
Central School, class of 1950.
Lora was very involved in the Phoenix community.
A member of Century Club; G .P. I. A.; served as
a trustee on the Phoenix Library Board; North
Country Library Assoc.; Phoenix Central School
Board member for 10 years, with a 2 year post as
president; Masonic Lodge achievement award;
Post Card Club of Oswego County; Schroeppel
Historical Society; Town of Webb Historical Society;
Nursery School Board member; and a former deaconess.
Predeceased by brothers and sisters.
Surviving are her loving husband of 62 years,
Derwin L. Jones; five daughters and their husbands,
Loraine and Don Ridall of Dewitt, Nena and Harry
Nash of Syracuse, Debora Jones and her husband
Charles Wardhaugh of Volney, Linda and Peter
Palmer of Baldwinsville, and Loralee and Roy Skinner
of Blossvale; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild;
one sister, Doris Potter of Oxford, NY; many nieces,
nephews, cousins.
Calling hours on Friday July 11 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the
Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home, 431 Main St.,
Phoenix, NY. Services are on Saturday July 12, at
11 a.m. in Pennellville United Methodist Church, 389
Co. Rt. 54, Pennellville, NY with Rev. Dr. Russell
Hall and the presiding pastor Rev. Jeff Hodge officiating.
Burial will occur at approximately 3:30 p.m. in Riverview
Cemetery, Co. Rd. 32, Oxford, NY 13830, and will be
conducted by the Behe Funeral Home, Inc., Oxford.
