Larry D. Schuler
November 8, 2020
Larry Douglas “The Bear” Schuler, 66, of Phoenix, passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2020. He was born to Benjamin and Gertrude (Wolffe) Schuler on August 4, 1954 in Syracuse, NY. Larry graduated from C. W. Baker High School in Baldwinsville. After high school, he attended North Country Community College in Saranac Lake. He retired from Niagara Mohawk after working for many years in various sectors. Larry volunteered for the Greater Baldwinsville Ambulance Corp and was also employed by the Baldwinsville Police Department.
Larry loved all things outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing, boating and snowmobiling. One of his greatest loves was the Baldwinsville Police Department Canoe Trip where he spent 23 years giving kids the opportunity to experience the natural beauty of the Adirondacks alongside some of his closest friends.
He was a loyal friend who would give you the shirt off his back, would drop everything in an instant to help others and was the one constant in this crazy world. Larry was one in a million.
His greatest love of all was his 4 grandchildren who affectionately knew him as Papa Schuler. As a troublemaker himself, he loved to rile up all of the kids and then send them home for their parents to deal with. His greatest gift to them was all of the experiences he gave them. They had many sleepovers, camping and fishing trips and many eventful boat rides. The kids would constantly fight over who would be Papa’s co-pilot. His legacy will live on through them in all of their shenanigans for years to come.
He is reunited with his favorite traveling partner and the love of his life of 37 years, Linda L. (Weller) Schuler. They are finally getting the opportunity to continue their adventures together.
He is also predeceased by his siblings, Penny Lukasiewicz, Gary Schuler, Jerry Schuler; and his parents.
He is survived by his children, Kim (Josh) Osborne, Jeff (Megan) Schuler, Stacy Schuler and Kevin Schuler; brother, Kenny Granzow; in-laws, Donny and Diane Weller; grandchildren, Mason, Noah, Lindsay, and Cole; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
