Obituary for Kay A. Kinne (Bowman)

Kay A. (Bowman) Kinne, 77 of Phoenix, NY passed away Sunday January 6, 2013 at Crouse Irving Hospital after a long illness. She was a lifelong resident of Phoenix, the daughter of the late Homer and Pearl (Prashaw) Bowman. A graduate of Phoenix High School, in 1954. She worked for General Electric Co., before starting a family and later worked and retired from Price Chopper Supermarkets. Kay was known for her generosity, kindness, wonderful cooking and a fantastic singing voice. She was the soloist at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church for many years where she was a lifelong member. She was a member and served in the Enterprise Fire Dept. Auxiliary for many years. Kay took great pride in and received great happiness from her grandchildren, Lauren and Laina Beckley, Troy Smith, Matti and Mackenzie Gleason, and great-granddaughter, Jenelle Schreyer. Kay is survived by her four children, Paul (Cindy Zimmer), Kay Collins (Steve), Gail Gleason (Ken), and Linda Cole (Dave). Also , by her sister, Donna Gavula and several nieces and nephews including Donna Cooper who the family wishes to thank for helping care for Kay, checking in on her often. Kay was predeceased by her husband, of 49 years, Francis E. “Bud” Kinne, sisters Ova Reed and Dorothy Hamn, brothers, Homer and Robert Bowman, and sisters-in-law Flora Cole, Norma Dix, and Carrie Cooper. Calling hours are tomorrow, Tuesday Jan. 8, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Allanson- Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home, 431 Main St., Phoenix. Services are on Wednesday at 8:45 a.m in the funeral home, and 9:30 a.m. in St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church, 469 Main St., Phoenix, with the Rev. Philip Brockmyre officiating. Burial in Chase Cemetery, Lysander.
