To my father, my dad John...
I am saddened by your departure. When our parents get up in age we know the day is coming but one can never prepare for the emotions brought forefront.
Well dad...I hope you found peace and comfort beyond the confines of earth and the troubles and pains is held upon you. Please be a guardian angel to those of us who love you.
I am told my flashing blue eyes and curly hair came from you. I am thankful. I have odd memories from childhood. I recall you calling me and my younger brother Shawn Tiger and Camper. I don't recall who was who though. I remember you working hard with mom and Gary your eldest around the farm. I will forever remember you singing Beyond the Sunset as mom played the organ/piano. Wish we had recorded it.
Wish we had found a way to be close these last decades....but I guess it was not meant to be. I am so glad you went fundraising with me this summer for Shawn's house benefit and glad you were able to attend the event. RIP daddy in that big sky above.
your daughter, Shannon
