Obituary for John Earl Michels

John Earl Michels, 73, of Baldwinsville, NY, lost his battle with cancer on Oct. 8, 2019. Upon high school graduation, he enlisted in the U. S. Army and after completing a tour of duty in Vietnam, he returned home to Baldwinsville and lived in that area all his life. His career involved driving trucks for various companies in the Syracuse area, security guard at Curcible Steel, and retiring as a bus driver for Centro. His parents were Earl and A. Lucille Michels who predeceased him.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ruth Dunham; 3 children Geoffrey, Gregory, and Heather; 6 grandchildren Daniel, Christina, Samantha, AnnaMarie, Ryan, Patrick; one great-grandchild Brantley; his brother Loren; several nieces & nephews.

The family of John would like to thank Dr. Bingham, his staff and the infusion team at HOA, Hospice of CNY, and the Bishop Nursing Home for their compassionate care.

Calling hours are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday Oct. 15, funeral immediately following with Pastor J. Scott McElyea officiating. at Allanson-Glanville-Tappan funeral home, 431 Main St., Phoenix, with the interment in Riverview Cemetery, Baldwinsville, with U.S. Army honors.
