Obituary for Herbert E. Litterbrant

Herbert E. Litterbrant, 93, of Lysander, passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital

Health Center on Wednesday March 2, 2016. He was born on March 30,

1922 in Cape Vincent, NY, to his late parents, Marie (DeJourdan) and

Allie Litterbrant.


Mr. Litterbrant was a U. S. Navy veteran serving from October 31, 1940

honorable discharge on December 15, 1946 with a rank of Carpenter’s

Mate, First Class. Later, Herb was employed by Allied Chemical, Syracuse,

for 31 years.


Herb was a member of the Phoenix Memorial Post, VFW Post 5540, and

the Horning-Fournier American Legion Post 418, both located in Phoenix,

NY. He also enjoyed fishing and other hobbies.


He was predeceased by his “one and only”, loving wife of 58 years,

Rose Ione (Dennee) Litterbrant on January 7, 2002.


Surviving are three sons and their spouses, Terry and Wendy Litterbrant,

Lee and Chris Litterbrant, and Brandon Litterbrant; five grandchildren;

seven great-grandchildren.


The family will receive friends on Saturday March 12, 2016 from 2 to 4 p.m.

in the Phoenix Memorial Post, VFW Post 5540, at 70 Culvert St., Phoenix,

NY 13135, with a memorial service following.


A spring burial will take place in Lysander Union Cemetery, Lamson Rd.,

in the hamlet of Lysander.
