Obituary for Helen L. Iselin (DeSaw)

Helen L. (DeSaw) Iselin, 88, of West Monroe, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at the St. Joseph’s Hospital, Comfort Care Center. Born to her late parents, Hazel (Smith) and Esson L. Wilcox. She was a homemaker, and a owner/operator of a laundromat in E. Syracuse. Helen was a member of the First Baptist Church, Phoenix, NY. She was predeceased by her first husband, Andrew L. DeSaw in 1984, and her second husband, Hollis J. Iselin in 2001; a brother, Lyle Wilcox in 1988. Surviving are her children, Wayne L. Renfer of Charleston, SC, Helen Matchett of West Warwick, RI, Nancy (Bill) Balson of Coventry, RI, and Sharon (Joe) Gilbert of Fulton; her loving grandchildren, Ketelyn Gilbert, Steven Gilbert Joseph Gilbert, Heidi Rutter, Allissa Archambault, Becca Ramberg, Josh Matchett, Daniel Matchett, Michael Renfer, Laura Renfer, Karen Oliver; 13 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews one step-son, R. James Iselin of High Point, NC..


Calling hours are on Friday June 22, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home, 431 Main St., Phoenix, NY 13135. Services are on Saturday June 23, at 11 a.m. in the First Baptist Church 16 County Route 57 A, Phoenix, NY 13135, with Pastor J. Scott McElyea officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Plains Cemetery, 465 Peck Rd, North Manlius, NY.
