Obituary for Fern Isham

Fern Isham passed away suddenly, June 9, 2013, after a long and happy life. She was a devoted daughter of Harry and Edna (Timerson) Isham, who passed before her. Her brothers, John and Richard also predeceased her.


Fern is survived by her sister, Barbara and her husband Robert Hanley of Syracuse; several nieces and nephews; as well as grandnieces and nephews; her beloved friend and neighbor, Maria Pulvere Gay; as well as her many friends.


She was a graduate of Phoenix High School, and was a decades long resident of the Town of Granby. Fern was a faithful parishioner of State Street United Methodist Church, Fulton. She loved nature and was a longtime friend of the Beaver Lake Nature Center. Fern served for many years as a volunteer for the Salvation Army. She also enjoyed traveling, Michael Jordan of the Chicago Bulls, following her favorite sports team in the newspapers and on television, and the game of golf. Fern loved to debate politics with all persons willing to debate. She also love sharing a “Cup of Joe'” with friends and family.


Services are Thursday June 13, 2013 at 10 a.m. in the Allanson- Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home, 431 Main St., Phoenix, NY. A calling hour will be from 9 to 10 a.m. in the funeral home prior to the service. Burial will be in Martville Cemetery, State Route 104, Town of Sterling.
