Emerson Francis Hamlin, 85, of Phoenix, NY
passed away on Monday October 6, 2014.
Born in Syracuse to his late parents, Mary
(Bettinger) and Maurice Hamlin on Sept. 27,
1929. A graduate of Phoenix High School,
class of 1947. He was a self employed carpenter,
an insurance agent, a farmer, and a school bus driver.
Emerson was a member of the Pennellville
United Methodist Church, serving as a lay reader,
trustee, a Sunday school teacher, a council of
churches chairman; he was a director for the
Oswego County Mutual Insurance.
He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Andrew
C. Young on Feb. 18, 2003.
Surviving are his loving wife of nearly 60 years,
Joyce A. (Van Alstyne) Hamlin; his son and his
daughter-in-law, Edward and Nancy Hamlin; his
daughter, Elizabeth A. Young; a sister, Martha
Dubois; four grandchildren and their spouses,
Eric and Daidra Hamlin, Alisa and Ryan Conger,
Andrew and Seble Young, and Aaron and Emily
Young; seven great-grandchildren, Rocco Mistico,
Ryken Conger, Aviva Conger, Isaac Hamlin, Eli
Hamlin, Ethan Young, and Blair Young; several
nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services are on Thursday October 9 at 10 a.m.
in the Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home,
431 Main St., Phoenix, NY, with the Rev. Jeff
Hodge officiating.
Burial in Phoenix Rural Cemetery,
126 Chestnut St., Phoenix, NY 13135. Calling
hours will be on Wednesday Oct. 8, from 4 to 8 p.m.
in the funeral home.
