Obituary for Eileen R. Corey (Mills)

Eileen R. (Mills) Corey, 97, of Phoenix, NY, passed away on Sunday January 1, 2023, at Morningstar Residential Care Center, Oswego, NY. She was only a short term two month resident. Born in Baldwinsville, NY to her late parents, Margaret (Doyle) and Roy D. Mills on September 15, 1925. Eileen was employed by the Phoenix Central Schools as their head baker providing fresh baked products for the students. After her retirement she maintained a busy schedule by being involved with the Altar Rosary Society; the Red Hat Society; VFW Post 5540, Auxiliary; the Senior exercise group; and years before, was an avid square dancing partner. Eileen was known for her love of baking and cooking at home. She enjoyed being with and providing for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a kind and loving spirit.
Besides her parents, she was pre-deceased by her husband, John Corey, Jr. on August 28, 2010; her two brothers and three sisters; her grandsons John Roberts and William Prosser; her son-in-law, Steve Prouty, Sr. on August 12, 2022.
Eileen is survived by her children June (Ed) Luther of Mattydale, NY, Douglas (Betty) Corey of Phoenix, NY, Vicki Prouty of Phoenix, NY, and Candice Clayberg of Phoenix, NY; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; several nieces, and nephews; and her many friends.
Calling hours are on Wednesday January 4, 2023 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home, 431 Main Street, Phoenix, NY 13135. The funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday January 5, 2023 at Saint Stephen's Catholic Church, 469 Main St., Phoenix, NY with the Rev. Joseph Scardella officiating. Deacon Jeff Dean will be assisting with the funeral mass. Revised * Eileen's burial on Wednesday May 3, 2023 at 2:30 p.m. in Phoenix Rural Cemetery, Section 24, 126 Chestnut St., Phoenix, NY.
