Retired Chief Petty Officer, Edward Patrick Collins, 78,
passed away in Rochester, NY on Sunday January 1,
2017. Born to his late parents, Edna Ruth (Carter) and
Patrick Lionel Collins in Fulton, NY on October 6, 1938.
He was a graduate of Phoenix High School, Phoenix, NY.
Edward began his U. S. Navy career in Albany, NY on
November 2, 1955. He served aboard many ships during
his twenty years of service to his country. Beginning with
the U. S. S. Intrepid, the U. S. S. Randolph, and the
U. S. S. Forrestal. Ed’s final duty station was the Naval
Air Station in Brunswick, Maine, where he received his
honorable discharge from the Navy. Ed enjoyed hunting
and fishing, as well as photography.
Besides his parents passing away, Edna R. (Collins) Levy,
in 2008, and Patrick L. Collins in 1979; he was also
predeceased by his sister Patricia A. Langdon in 1995;
and his brother Michael Collins in 2007.
Surviving are his six children, Shawn (Raquel) Collins of
Brooklet, GA, Pam Collins (Mike Hoffman) of Hanover, PA,
Steven (Susan) Collins of Clarksville, TN, Dan (Vanessa)
Collins of Mountain Top, PA, Maureen Collins of Twisp, WA,
Annie Collins of Glenburn, ME; three sisters, Margaret A.
Collins of Ormond Beach, FL, Mary Tassone of Liverpool,
NY, and Ann (Ted) Anderson of Oswego, NY; a brother
Richard J. (Becky) Collins of Welling, OK; 15 grandchildren;
several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services are at 1 p.m. on Saturday June 3, 2017 in Saint
Stephen’s Catholic Church, 469 Main St., Phoenix, NY
with the Rev. Philip Brockmyre officiating. Burial following
the church mass will be in Phoenix Rural Cemetery, 126
Chestnut St., Phoenix. U. S. Navy and Phoenix Memorial
VFW Post 5540 honor squads as well as a bugler, to
offer military rites for retired Chief Petty Officer Edward P.
Collins.
