Obituary for Edith House (Sposato)

Edith J. House, 82, of Phoenix, NY went home to be with the Lord on April 8, 2022 at Betsy Ross rehab center, Rome, NY. Born in Huntington, Long Island to her late parents Velma (Auringer) Eastman and James Sposato on April 12, 1939. She graduated in 1957 from Mexico High School, Mexico, NY. She was a hard working subsistent farmer and gardener for most of her life, running a local farm stand at her home in Scriba, NY. She also babysat for most of the neighborhood children, was a janitor at Oswego Cinema and Theatre and worked at the Pall-Times Newspaper.

She loved her family very much and she had several ‘adopted family’ members that she loved too.

Besides her parents, Velma in 2004, James in 1941 and Homer Eastman in 2000, she was predeceased by her husband of almost 40 years, George House in 2000.

Surviving are her daughters Dawn (Ken) Bundy of Pulaski, NY; Robin (Chuck) Whitford of Scriba, NY and her granddaughter Jamie (Dan Johnston) Whitford of Scriba, NY, several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and some very special friends.

Calling hours are on Thursday April 14, 2022 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. in the Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home, 431 Main St., Phoenix, NY, with the service to follow. The Rev. Jeff Hodge will officiate the funeral. Burial in Pennellville Cemetery, town of Schroeppel.
