Craig S. “Homer” VanAuken, 65, of Phoenix,
NY, passed away on Monday August 12, 2013.
Born in Oswego, NY to his late parents,
Shirley W. (Davies) and Franklin VanAuken
on Nov. 14, 1947. Homer was a 1965 graduate
of the J. C. Birldlebough High School, Phoenix.
He was a switch man for Windstream, Fulton,
NY with 32 years of service. Homer was an avid
sportsman, hunting and fishing. He belonged to
the Copper Lake Club, and Brantingham Camp.
Golfing and bowling he also enjoyed, as well as a
social member at the Phoenix Memorial Post 5540
VFW, and the American Legion Post 418, Phoenix.
He was predeceased by his infant daughter, Elizabeth
Ann VanAuken in 1982.
Surviving are his loving wife of 19 years, Donna
(Gardner) VanAuken; his 4 step-children, Julie Griffin,
Scott & (Linda) Griffin, Travis & (Stephanie) Griffin,
and Richelle & (Donald) Hunt; his step-grandchildren,
Aidan, Casey, Kelly, Donja, Connor, Griffin, Ethan,
and Mattie; his brother, David A. & (Sunny) VanAuken;
two nieces, Tricia A. VanAuken, and Janine M. &
(Paul) Sabo; one grandnephew, Dylan Sabo; one
grandniece, Emily Sabo; the Davies, Jones, and
Handler cousins; and many close friends.
Calling
hours are on Wednesday August 14, from 2 to 4 &
6 to 8 p.m. in the Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral
Home, 431 Main St., Phoenix, NY. The funeral
service will be on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the
funeral home with the Rev. Terry Millbyer officiating.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Association or the American Heart Association in
his memory.
