Obituary for Clifford Charles Welch

Clifford C. Welch, Jr., 87, of County Rte. 6 Volney passed away on Tuesday November 15, 2022 at Seasons Hospice in Newark, DE.
Family and Friends may call Monday November 21 from 2-4 p.m. at Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home 431 Main Street Phoenix, where funeral services will follow. A private burial will take place in Jacksonville Cemetery.
Clifford “Chuck, Cliff, Charlie” was born February 28. 1935 in Syracuse NY to the late Clifford and Gertrude (Baker) Welch. He was the oldest of five children; Richard (Dorothy); Joan Burke; Janet (predeceased) and Linda. He was a lifelong resident of Oswego County. Clifford served in the US Army 4th Infantry Division from 1957-1959. He retired from General Electric/Lockheed Martin in 1999.
He is predeceased by his beloved dog Peanut, the love of his life Carol Summerville, and his daughter Shelley Wells. He is survived by James (Tammy) Welch of Colbert, GA; Johnny (Rhonda) Welch of Comer, GA; Sherry (Mark) Stachnik of Belmont, NC and Patti (Jeremy) Carlson of Newark, DE; along with Carol’s four children: Steve, Joel, Bill, and Jon. He was blessed with 25 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Deepest thanks to Lori Savino and Steve (Rhonda) Summerville for the care and support they provided during his final years.
He enjoyed traveling to Zephyrhills, Florida in his motorhome with Carol, cheering on his SU sports teams; gardening and puttering around the house during his retirement years and above all spending time with his family.
He was someone you could always count on to be there for you. A pillar of strength and a true heart of gold.
