Obituary for Charles Frederick "Chuck" Sherman

Charles Frederick “Chuck” Sherman, 80, of

Phoenix, NY, passed away on Saturday Sept.

7, 2013. A life resident, he was born on March

8, 1933 to his late parents, Mary (Proper) and

Gleason Sherman. An U.S. Army veteran, he

served in Korea, in the 174th Tank Battalion.

Chuck was a truck driver for Whitacre Engineering

Co., Liverpool.


A member of the Phoenix United Methodist Church,

and its Men’s Club, famous for those Saturday

chicken barbecues; “River Rat” group; American

Legion Post 418, and VFW Post 5540, both in

Phoenix. Chuck was predeceased by his wife,

Barbara J. (Klase) Sherman on Sept. 17, 2004;

his two brothers, Elliot Sherman and Donald Sherman.


Surviving are his children, Robert Sherman of Mexico,

and Nancy Rahrle of Phoenix; 10 grandchildren; 13

great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews & cousins.


Services are on Saturday Sept. 14, 2013 at 5 p.m. in the

Phoenix United Methodist Church, 49 Jefferson St.,

Phoenix, NY 13135. Military honors will be conducted

for Chuck as well.

has charge of arrangements.
