Obituary for Bruce Silas Godfrey

Bruce S. Godfrey of Fulton, NY passed away on February 11, 2020. Born in Phoenix, NY on April 4, 1934 to the late Donald C. Godfrey, Sr. and Hazel Barney Godfrey, Bruce graduated from J.C. Birdlebough High School and Cornell University. As a young man Bruce was a member of 4H and was responsible for planting blueberries on the family farm. He served as a photographer in the US Army in Germany. Bruce was a member of the Town of Schroeppel Planning Board and worked for NY State DOT. Bruce had a long career as a planner with Texas DOT after moving there with his wife, Marilyn. Bruce was an active volunteer, receiving a Texas Regional award for his outstanding community service. He returned to Phoenix several years ago to return to his roots. He was a member of the Oswego Garden Club for several years.

Bruce is survived by stepdaughters, Alice (Doug) Denham, of San Antonio and Julie (Horace Ho) Trenary, of Austin, Texas. Also surviving are his sisters, Annette (Harold) Reals of Jamesville, NY and Linda Welch of Tidewater, OR, as well as several nieces and nephews. Bruce was predeceased by his loving wife, Marilyn Godfrey, along with siblings, Gary Godfrey, Marilyn Hahn, Sharon Berry and Donald C. Godfrey, Jr.

Bruce will be laid to rest beside his wife at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas. There will be a private service at the cemetery.
