Obituary for Betty Jean Waffle (Albrecht)

On January 29, 2023, Betty Jean Albrecht Waffle went home to the side of her beloved Bob. Betty was born on August 25, 1929 to Leon Albrecht and Florence Hinckley. Betty was one of seven siblings that included five brothers, John, Earnest, Charles, Leon, and Harold, and one sister, Rosemond. Betty was raised by her Aunt and Uncle, Maude and Will Pearsall in the town of South New Berlin, New York. Betty thrived both academically and socially in her school years, later becoming a cheer leader, a Prom Queen and performer and lover of music.
In 1950 Betty married the love of her life, Robert Waffle and settled in Norwich, New York. Together they raised and are survived in death by their three children; daughter Kathyrn Myers and her husband Dick of Schuylkill Haven, Pennsylvania; daughter Joan Conrad and her husband Rick of Bainbridge Island, Washington; and son Gary Waffle and wife Paula of Phoenix, New York. Betty is also survived by eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild as well as her favored nieces and their families in Texas and Alaska.
Throughout their hard-working lives, music remained a constant comfort in Betty and Bob's home life, whether enjoying or playing it together. They moved from their hometown in post-childrearing years to Gainesville, Texas where they enjoyed extended family, the outdoors, fishing and riding their BMW motorcycle. They eventually returned to New York but after a trip to the Northwest, they once again settled close to their family in Poulsbo, Washington. After Bob's passing in 2004, Betty moved closer to her daughter and family on Bainbridge Island, Washington. In 2015 Betty would make her last move back to Phoenix, New York, where she lived and was cared for until her last days by her son and daughter-in-law.
Betty worked for many years in the insurance industry as a claims agent for State Farm, Safeco and lastly Unigard Insurance companies. Betty enjoyed traveling to and with her family to Arizona, Texas, Pennsylvania and New York in her last years. Her family and friends grieve their loss but treasure her legacy of kindness and generosity that will be everlasting. Rest in Peace our Dear Mother, Grandmother, and Friend.
