Bernard Lowe Clapp, 82, of Central Square, passed away at Michaud Residential Health Services home in Fulton, NY, on Sunday May 3, 2015.
He was born in Syracuse, NY to his late parents, Grace (Lowe) and
Clarence Clapp on May 30, 1932.
Bernard was a graduate of Central Square High School. A superb salesman,
he represented many firms, including Penn Mutual Insurance Co., Johnson’s Wax, and lately Lawson Tools in Syracuse.
Bernie was active in the Finger Lakes Antique Boat Club, both as a member, serving on the Board of Directors and helping to organize the Annual Boat Show in Skaneateles. He had a passion for classic wooden boats and
loved throwing a wake with his Chris Crafts and Lymans. He was an avid
fisherman and also threw down a mean hand in Pitch tournaments and
other card games. He loved putting together and flying model airplanes; and creating woodworking projects.
Surviving are his companion, Sally Slack; three sons and daughter-in-laws, Casey and Jennifer Lord Clapp of CA, Jeff Clapp of NYC, Kevin and Lisa
Clapp of Phoenix; one daughter, Lisa Tiffany of VA; 10 grandchildren;
two great-grandchildren.
Calling hours are from 12 noon until 2 p.m. on Thursday May 7, followed by
the funeral service at 2 p.m. all in the Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral
Home, 431 Main St., Phoenix, NY 13135. The Rev. Marion Moore-Colgan
will be officiating.
Committal burial services will follow in White Chapel Memory Gardens,
Kinne Road, DeWitt, NY.
