Obituary for Alfred L. Rock

Alfred L. Rock, 77, of the town of Oswego, NY, passed away at his home on Sunday August 19, 2012. Born in Plattsburgh, NY to his late parents Helen (Ayotte) and Alfred J. Rock on August 19, 1935. A graduate of S.U.N.Y, Canton. Mr.Rock was a veteran of the US Navy, he served as a hospital corpsman 3rd class aboard the USS Toledo. Alfred was a financial systems analyst for Alcan Corp.. Al was an avid hunter, enjoyed woodworking, and he could fix anything. He also enjoyed crossword puzzles. Predeceased by his seven brothers and sisters, Robert, Charles, and Herbert; Bertha Hoffman, Mildred Gowett, Dorothy Prairie, and Ruth Gonyea. Surviving are his loving wife of 53 years, the former Kathleen J. Oliver; one son, Kenneth (Anita) Rock of Fountain Hills, AZ; three daughters, Sharon (Jay) Baker and Alison (Ralph) Huihui all of Mayville, NY, and Becky (Robert, M.D.) Tahara of Bradford, PA; one brother Donald Rock of Portsmouth, RI; six grandchildren, Quintana Baker, Jessup Baker, Camden Baker, Chandler Baker, Kierra Huihui, Jonathan Huihui; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Services are at 3 p.m. Saturday August 25, at the Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home, 431 Main St., Phoenix, NY 13135, with Deacon Frank Forish officiating. Burial with military honors to follow the service in Phoenix Rural Cemetery, 126 Chestnut St., Phoenix. Calling hours are the same day from 1 to 3 p.m. in the funeral home before the service.Contributions in his memory, may be made to the Salvation Army, 73 West Second St., Oswego, NY 13126
